I’m a junior in Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and this is my second year on the team. Being one of the only designers on this team (other than my colleagues Adam and my mentors Breanna and Guoyue) seems a lot of fun! Compared to last year where there were much more designers with their own ideas, this year, I have almost full control over the team’s promotional art. I really enjoy watching Spongebob and having to base themes around it. While making compromises seems difficult and time consuming, but I wanted to fully push myself and all the effort into these projects.

I am a PhD student at Johns Hopkins. This is my second year as an iGEM mentor. I like to work on projects that use math, biology, and computer science. At Hopkins, my research lab builds virtual heart models to help physicians diagnose and treat patients with cardiovascular diseases.

I am a Biomedical Engineering PhD student at Johns Hopkins and, for the third time, a mentor for the Baltimore BioCrew’s iGEM team. Previously, I was on MIT’s 2016 iGEM team. At MIT, I received my bachelor’s degree in Biological Engineering.
Breanna Takacs

I’m a Postbaccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institute of Health and this is my first year with iGEM. I received my undergraduate degree from UT Austin and my research interests include molecular biology, genomics, and environmental science.

I am a Research Specialist at Johns Hopkins University studying the biology of the malaria parasite. My educational background is in Microbiology and Immunology, and Human Genetics from McGill University. This is my first year as a mentor for the Baltimore BioCrew.
