Although iGEM is a student competition in the first place and we as a team wanted to do as much as possible ourselves,
M.A.R.S. would not have been possible without the help of other people. As we were not able to participate in a Synthetic Biology
or even an iGEM course before entering the iGEM competition, we were happy about every advice we could get for the work in the
lab, especially because most team members did not have any or only very little experience in the lab.
However, not only in the lab but also in many other areas, we sometimes lacked crucial knowledge and skills.
On this page we want to thank everyone who supported us in compensating this:
Furthermore, we want to thank everyone who energized M.A.R.S., be it by providing funding or by providing
work space and materials.

On the other hand, we also did a lot of ourselves. We already started brainstorming and gathering ideas for possible projects at our first meeting on the 9th of January 2020. After some discussions with our PIs,
we chose M.A.R.S. to be our project on the 17th of March 2020. On the same day, we officially started working on our project. However, due to the Corona pandemic, we faced a lot of challenges. The first, and probably
most drastic, was that we were only allowed to enter the lab at the beginning of June. But these circumstances only fueled the creativity of our wet lab team, of which you can convince yourself with the authentic video on the right.
However, we did not spend this time just waiting, but used it for other activities. For example, we got into contact with other iGEM teams and planned our
Human Practices and Science education subprojects. Furthermore, we used online tools to talk to scientists in the course of integrated Human Practices and designed our lab schedule in a very detailed manner.
Thus, we were able to work very efficiently once we have been allowed to enter the lab.
Last but not least, we want to thank our sponsors.
Without their generous financial support, we would not have been able to implement our ideas.
This project was funded by the "Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung"
Furthermore we want to thank the following supporters for providing workspace and lab materials in a time in which both were not easy to get.
