How To Use SOAP Lab
HomeScreen
Our website starts off with an informative home screen for first time users. Scroll down to learn more about our software or use the bar in the top right to jump straight to the relevant sections.
User Flow
You can access the Designer page either from the navigation bar on the top right corner of the webpage or the "Designer" button on our homepage. You will be redirected to SBOL Designer where you
can upload and edit an SBOL file, or create your own SBOL design from scratch. You will also be prompted to designate your assembly method of choice. Having completed your SBOL design, you can save the SBOL design at your preferred
location. In the next step, you will be prompted to upload the SBOL file you've worked on in the file upload box. Here, you can also choose to validate if your SBOL file is consistent with SBOL data standards. In the final step,
you will be prompted to complete several fields related to the run specification and Opentrons labware specification.
Designer
The SBOL Designer is an open source software that allows you to edit your genetic design or construct a new one, as well as giving you access to various SBOL repositories such as SynBioHub. The output of
SBOL Designer is an SBOL file that you can download on your machine.
Upload/Validate
You can upload an SBOL file and optionally choose to validate that it conforms to SBOL data standards using the the SBOL Validator. The validator uses the SBOL Validator API created by the Myers Research Group which has been made freely available with an Apache 2.0 license.
Specifications
The information you provide on this page is used to customize the assembly set-up to your own personal specifications. You can taylor the script to the labware you have available such as pipette
types, well plates and thermocycler module. You can also select the number of wells you wish to fill and their organisation.
Clicking on "Process Input" will send your design and specifications to the backend, and the output files
generated will appear under "Output Files"
