Attributions

Linköping university’s iGEM team had to shape its project idea to adapt to the circumstances experienced during 2020 and this would not have been possible without the hard and committed work of each team member and the special collaborations of specialists who provided guidance during the development of the project.

Individual contributions

Due to the project changes made because of the 2020 pandemic situation, our project shifted from a traditionally laboratory-based project to a bioinformatics focused project, having the programming and the experimental groups as cores of the development of our work. The members divided between these two groups but also worked in subgroups as there were other aspects to work on for our project to be successful.

Support from parties outside of the team

Programming support

We have had close contact with Mika Gustafson (Associate Professor in Translational Bioinformatics, Linköping university) who is an associate professor in bioinformatics at Linköping University and doctoral student Hendrik de Weerd from Skövde University. Mika Gustafsson and Hendrik de Weerd are developers of the R-package MODifieR which ClusteRsy uses to analyze the raw transcriptome data. Mika has helped our team to reach out and to acknowledge which clinicians would be the actual users of ClusteRsy. Mika has also given guidance on how to extract the most valuable information from MODifieR and how to interpret the results of MODifieR.

Hendrik de Weerd has been a great support in the development of ClusteRsy. During the summer he has been available to answer questions regarding coding and the database which he has built for the usage of ClusteRsy.

Experimental and laboratory support

The team PI:s Lars-Göran Mårtensson (Associate Professor, Linköping University) and Per Hammarström (Professor, Linköping University) worked closely with our team and provided guidance through the whole development process of our project. In addition, they supplied our work with laboratory equipment and chemicals. The sharing of their time, knowledge, and experience absolutely shaped the final result of our project. Dean Derbyshire (Principal Research Engineer, Linköping University) for the support of our team in the nanoDSF method.

Project advisor support

As project advisor, Oliver Hild Walett worked closely with our team, especially with the experimental group. His previous experience as a member of the iGEM team and his knowledge in the field allowed him to guide us in the development of our project. He guided the team through the iGEM journey as a whole and functioned as a guide for how iGEM projects usually look. He also provided crucial education and help with the design of the experimental part of the project.

Wiki support

Tom Clevensjö - LiU iGEM 2019 for insigth on how the wiki coding worked

Emmanuel Berlin - LiU iGEM 2018/19 for great help proof-reading the wiki

General support

The department of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology (IFM) at Linköping University supported the team with access to a laboratory to work on for the last weeks of the summer. Q&Q Labs, a sponsor of our team, provided financial support for our work.

Acknowledgements

As a team we would like to give a special thanks to everyone involved in the work that helped us to achieve our goal of turning our initial idea into a reality. These contributions have guided and improved our work and taught us so much to each of us in the process.
