I am a Biochemist going into my 3rd year at Exeter. I love the practical aspects of my course and iGEM has given me a great opportunity to help develop those skills as well as learn new ones. Outside of academics, I am a keen guitarist and also enjoy representing the university playing badminton.

I'm a
3rd year Biological Sciences student specialising in Cellular and Molecular biology. I find cells fascinating macro scale environments with still much to discover. iGEM allowed me to learn the power of synthetic biology and gain lab experience. Synthetic biology has enormous potential to solve many global issues. I also love music, festivals, climbing and slacklining.

As a 2nd year physicist going into 3rd year, I'm fascinated how scientists from different backgrounds provide different solutions to the same problem. iGEM has been a great experience for this reason and has opened my eyes to synthetic biology. When not studying, I can be found practising piano or reading the latest thriller. Most likely I’ll be singing loudly, much to my flatmates’ discontent!

I’m a 1st-into-2nd year Medical Scientist. iGEM has allowed me to explore the potential of synthetic biology (which makes me even more excited to begin my Human Genomics specialisation this year!) and meet many friendly & talented people. Outside of work, my creative hobbies range from perfumery to 3D modelling and I also enjoy getting outside.

I am going into my 4th year studying Physics and am particularly interested in the Biophysics field of research. iGEM has really allowed me to explore more of the 'bio' in Biophysics which has only confirmed how much I like it! I also love playing cricket and badminton.

Hi! I’m a curious 2nd-going-into-3rd year Biochemist. My passion is genetics and enzymology but my goal in my 'science career' is to contribute to the dissipation of science knowledge, among peers and the masses, as I believe that everyone should have a basic knowledge of science. The dream job is to be the screenwriter for the next Bill Nye!

I'm going into 4th year physics and in terms of modules I have specialized in biophysics as it's an active and exciting research area. iGEM has given me the opportunity to dive into the realm of biology. Being able to apply physical knowledge has been thrilling! In my free time I enjoy running, video games, graphic design, film making, and drinking large amounts of coffee.

I am a Biologist going into 3rd year. My modules focus on plant biology and microbiology, so I was excited to get the opportunity to get some hands-on synthetic biology experience. iGEM has given me the opportunity to consider the impact that genetic modification has on the outcomes of global challenges such as climate change. I find this very exciting! I'm heavily involved in the biology side of the lab work.

Outside academia, my interests include Music and the gym. These serve as outlets to my subject which continuously push me to improve. After achieving a diploma in music, I have been in pursuit of finding an applied scientific field to go into research with. Mathematics and iGEM are alike as they have both pushed me continuously to improve as an academic and I look forward to seeing how I progress.

I'm a Physics student going into my 3rd year at Exeter Uni. Synthetic biology seems to have so much potential to help solve global issues with the tools of science, and working alongside an interdisciplinary team in iGEM was the perfect opportunity to get involved with this exciting field! Outside of Uni I love to surf and run my own Art business, specialising in semi-abstract landscape paintings.
