Accomplishments
iGEM FDR-HB Peru has been working on multiple projects, most notably a system that will enable the detection and removal of heavy metals such as Cadmium from fish and fishmeal produced by TASA. As well as working towards educating the local community about synthetic biology.
Schools
Our students attend Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Colegio Hiram Bingham, both of which have provided much support throughout the year.
Mentors
We are incredibly grateful for the support and guidance provided by Dr. Nina Markham, Dr. Claudia Muñoz, and Mr. David Kostial.
Experts
Regarding our work in synthetic biology engineering, we have received a great deal of feedback and guidance from our expert Dr. Daniel Guerra. We are also extremely thankful for Dr. Cristina Guerra and the time she set aside to speak at our High-School Meetup we hosted earlier this year.
UPCH
We are also thankful for the time spent by Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia with our iGEM team to produce educational videos, especially Diego Alonzo, Jesus Durand, and Valeria Villar.
We would also like to thank Professor Hugo Flores who is helping us with the workshop our education team is hosting.
Tuebingen
We would also like to thank the iGEM Tuebingen team who has been meeting with our hardware and synthetic biology teams and has given helpful input on our cell-free system that we’ve been working on this season.
Illustrations
We would also like to thank Isabel García for her illustrations featured on the Wiki.
TASA
TASA has been a crucial element in our project. They are the company we are working with to develop the Cadmium-detection system, and they have sponsored our team with $2000. We used the money to purchase essential equipment and materials, especially for the experiments we needed to conduct.
Arbor Biosciences
We would also like to express our gratitude towards Arbor Biosciences. They have kindly sponsored us this iGEM season with their myTXTL Cell-Free Expression sponsorship package, which will allow us to conduct experimental research.
Arbor Biosciences, a subsidiary of Chiral Technologies, Inc. (part of Daicel Corporation), is a development and manufacturing company founded by scientists to serve our peers in molecular biology applications. We are a passionate organization of scientists determined to deliver cost-effective, user-friendly products to researchers of genetics and synthetic biology. The team at Arbor Biosciences prides themselves on providing exceptional customer service and timely technical support to new or advanced users on our array of products. We routinely collaborate with our customers and research partners to develop innovative solutions to address their unique applications.
TedxTukuy
We would also like to thank the TEDxTukuy organization for their invitation to participate in their event where our team was able to give a presentation about our work regarding iGEM.
Journal Perú
We are also grateful for the invitation from Journal Perú to showcase our work on their live-streaming platform on Facebook.
