Wiki Partnership Darmstadt & Kaiserslautern
For the exchange of expertise we collaborated with the iGEM Teams of Darmstadt and Kaiserslautern since they were both focused on the degradation of micro-pollutants in wastewater as well. Thereby all teams were focused among other substrates onto the degradation of diclofenac which is not effectively removed in wastewater treatment plants. Furthermore, all teams were aiming on degrading those micropollutants using laccases derived from different organisms which were individually selected within the teams and expressed in different strains. In order to collect the knowledge acquired by all three teams in their projects and provide future iGEM teams with an overview of the approaches used, we created an additional collaborative wiki page. The page contains short summaries of each project as well as the most important literature and experts on the topic. Moreover, a brief overview is given about the methods which were used by each team. Based on the wiki other iGEM teams can pick up our concepts and further optimize them to finally overcome the challenge of micropollutants in wastewater.
