1 Overview
When we carry out projects, biosafety is always the first. We strictly abide by the requirements and
guidelines provided by the iGEM headquarters. We will not choose chassis organisms that are harmful to
humans and the environment, and we will never use parts that are harmful to humans and the environment. We
follow the general requirements of Chinese laboratory biosafety.
2 Procedures related to laboratory entry and exit
Under normal circumstances, daily use items are not allowed to be brought into the laboratory, and
similarly, laboratory tools are not allowed to be taken out of the laboratory.
Strictly observe the laboratory operation time.
Strictly abide by laboratory rules and usage specifications.
3 Laboratory Safety
All the organisms we will use fall into category 1 risk.
Experimenter
Laboratory safety is an important part of the project. All members of our wet experiment team have undergone
qualified laboratory safety education and training and obtained certificates, and mastered the basic
knowledge of laboratory safety, emergency response measures and other skills.
Experimental materials
Phage
Phages are widespread in nature. There may be phages wherever bacteria are. Phages are viruses that
specifically kill bacteria. Since humans, animals, plants and other organisms have no corresponding antigens
on their cell surfaces, they will not be recognized by phages. Phages even exist in large numbers in our
bodies, especially in our intestines, which contain a large number of flora. In previous studies, whether it
is animal experiments or human clinical trials, it has been confirmed that bacteriophages will not have
obvious side effects on the body. The latest research has revealed the existence of endogenous
bacteriophages in humans and their possible probiotic effects.
Yeast
Yeast, which exists widely in nature, has been widely used in production and life. Yeast as a model animal
is widely used in various studies.
E.coli
Escherichia coli is a normal colony bacteria in the intestine, and a small part of it can cause
disease. As a model organism, Escherichia coli has been extensively used in experiments.
For more detailed safety instructions about our experimental materials, please refer to our
Safety Form.
Experimental products
The product of our experiment is a phage rebooted through our process. It has similar properties to ordinary
bacteriophages.
