Notebook (Exeter iGEM 2020)

Tuesday, 14 July

Our supervisor Chloe ordered some DNA sequences which we had found in scientific papers and identified as potentially useful. The sequences included 3 out of 4 CARP proteins (the third one contained too many repeats to allow for synthesis), carbonic anhydrases, promoters/RBS/terminators for E. coli & Bacillus subtilis and two urease operons. We were unable to order the DNA for bioremediase as the sequence turned out to be nonsense although we had found it in a peer-reviewed journal.

Chloe also added His-tag sequences to each CDS to allow for protein purification and Western blot analysis later.

Team Collaborations

We had a meeting with UCL at 11am, during which we discussed the possibility of 3D printing part of their hardware. We decided to send presentations to each other with a more detailed overview of our projects & descriptions of areas where we could collaborate.
