Collaborations

Purdue iGEM had the pleasure this year of collaborating with several iGEM teams virtually to embark on join ventures. Keep reading to see which teams we had the pleasure of working with.

University of Rochester Collaboration

The University of Rochester reached out to us in regards to their mission of improving science accessibility. As per their request, Purdue iGEM translated documents containing endometriosis facts, for their project UteRus, in Spanish. The University of Rochester was also kind enough to set up a workshop specifically for us in regards to our educational crash course series "Breaking Down Synthetic Biology". During this workshop, the University of Rochester shared helpful tips on how they developed their YouTube educational videos and important things to consider. Check out the University of Rochester's workshop presentation PDF below to see the insightful tips we received!

NEGEM North-Eastern Genetically Engineered Machines conference

This year Purdue iGEM was elated to receive an invitation to the 2020 NEGEM conference hosted by Harvard University. As a participant, we helped spread awareness about the conference to other iGEM teams and had the opportunity to present. The conference provided us with an opportunity to receive valuable feedback from other teams and former iGEM judges about our project.

"Breaking Down Synthetic Biology" YouTube Educational Crash Course Series

As universities and schools began adopting virtual education methods due to the ongoing pandemic, Purdue iGEM saw an opportunity to use a virtual platform to educate high schoolers and curious individuals about synthetic biology. We decided to make our endeavors a collaborative effort and reached out to several iGEM teams. With the help of Michigan State iGEM, Ohio State iGEM, University of Maryland iGEM, William and Mary iGEM, and Cornell iGEM we are proud to present our YouTube educational crash course series "Breaking Down Synthetic Biology." All of us worked tirelessly together over the summer and fall to develop our channel and videos.
