Collaborations

Colorado Teams Zoom Meeting

Our iGEM team set up a collaboration event with the Colorado School of Mines and University of Colorado Boulder. Each team met through Zoom and presented their projects, while the USAFA iGEM team moderated discussion as teams discussed and highlighted issues. After each project was presented and complications noted, possible solutions and feedback was given to include the USAFA iGEM team sharing contact for a modeling expert to the CSM team. Future collaboration with other Colorado schools for further public outreach and resource sharing initiatives are planned.

Manav Rachna International Team

We responded and contributed to the Manav Rachna team on helping them build a library of environmental projects. We were able to share one of our videos.

Air Force Research Lab

Over the summer, research was conducted with Wright Pat Air Force Base’s Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). During this time bioinformatics were conducted in order to find viable dehalogenases or other protein alternatives to degrade PFAS. During this time we primarily worked with Dr. Vanessa Varaljay and Dr. Chia Hung. In addition, Dr. Rajiv Berry was our primary contact as we conducted supercomputer modeling in order to gain a better understanding of the mechanism by which PFAS degradation occurs. This summer research developed into a longer-term collaboration, allowing the USAFA iGEM team to send samples to AFRL for 16S sequencing and other capabilities that are not available at the Air Force Academy.

Wiki Review

We organized a collaborative effort to provide Wiki review and advice to interested iGEM teams. The teams signed up on our google form and then we organized a peer review rotation to help teams develop and improve their wiki pages. The USAFA iGEM team's collaboration project assisted eight 2020 iGEM teams in reviewing their wiki and giving feedback! iGEM RUM-UPRM, Brno_Czech_Republic, iGEM-IISER_Tirupati-INDIA, MIT-MAHE, BOKU-Vienna, Korea-SIS, GunnVistaPingry_US

TU Delft SynBio Video

C1C Twee Pham and C1C Peter Lochmaier created a video in collaboration with TU Delft to add to the collection of videos about projects and what their main goals are!

Collaborative Biosensor Manual

We collaborated with the University of Edinburgh's google doc about biosensors.
