Eloise met up with Chloe at 11am to to type up the results of our B. subtilis promoter experiments and add them to the registry.
Velizar filled in the preliminary judging form ready to submit tomorrow.
Lab Work
Chloe ran a Western Blot on our engineered E. coli, which showed up nothing - in other words we did not manage to express any protein. At this stage in the project it was unfortunately too late to speculate on what might have gone wrong - limited lab time due to Covid-19 restrictions meant that we had to follow all steps of the genetic engineering process as quickly as possible to get a transformation done, and the error could have occurred during any of these steps. We had a team discussion following the Western Blot results and general feeling was that we'd done the best we could under restraints which we couldn't have predicted when we had started the project.
