About Jan Kok

Jan Kok is a professor in molecular genetics at the University of Groningen. His area of expertise are molecular genetics and genomics. He has been supervising the iGEM teams from Groningen as principle investigator since 2017. In addition to being an iGEM supervisor, prof. Kok is Adjunct Director of the master program Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Member of the Board of the Groningen Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (GBB) Institute as well as Member of the Board of the Graduate School of Science.

About Sonja Billerbeck

Sonja Billerbeck is an assistant professor at the Deptartment of Molecular Microbiology of the Unviersity of Groningen. In her research, Sonja creates genetically modified microorganisms and cell-free systems as well as engineered and post-translationally modified proteins for applications in basic science, in human health, agriculture and sustainable chemistry. Her overarching goal is to deliver new knowledge, design-principles and technologies, innovative ideas and proof-of-concepts that generate bio-based solutions for global challenges. She has over 8 years experience in supervising iGEM teams and was already supervising last year's iGEM Groningen 2019 team.

Rianne Prins is a PhD-student at the Department of Molecular Microbiology of the University of Groningen. She was an active team member of the 2018 iGEM Groningen team herself (project "StyGreen") and now returned to iGEM to supervise our project RootPatch.
