What the team accomplished:

During iGEM2020 season we have already managed:

  • We established the PCR laboratory at the Pirogov Medical University
  • Made the project’s design
  • Got approval of the ethics committee at Pirogov Medical University
  • Collected samples (saliva & blood samples)
  • Performed DNA isolation: over 1000 DNA samples frozen are in our biobank
  • Performed PCR-genotyping
  • Did Genomus Website with open source code
  • Handed out test results to over 200 participants
  • Had consultations with specialists in cybersecurity, biosecurity, ethics & genetics
  • Run our social media accounts
  • Collaborated with various iGEM2020 teams

What each of the team members did

Alexandr Kamenskiy
Alexandr Kamenskiy

In the beginning of the Genomus project he collected biomaterial, extracted DNA, provided PCR, and analysed the results. Now, he’s responsible for the development of Genomus, which entails establishing Genomus as part of our national healthcare system by means of communication with local healthcare authorities. Also Alexandr is performing Human Resources

Konstantin Davygora
Konstantin Davygora

He contributed to project design, sampling, DNA isolation, qPCR genotyping, routine lab processes robotic automation. Now he's responsible for international collaborations, portable genotyping system development, Wiki writings, communication with the experts and he also tries to find answers on ethical questions related to our project as they arise

Veronika Petrusenko
Veronika Petrusenko

She’s responsible for organizing meetings with other iGEM 2020 teams, collaborations, deadlines and texts for our wiki-page. She also takes part in the experimental part of the Genomus project: performs DNA extraction and qPCR analysis

Ivan Kupov
Ivan Kupov

He does mechanical work in the laboratory and works with robotic equipment. He also corrects the lists of collected samples

Alexander Skubilov
Alexander Skubilov

He helps to discuss some problems and goals of the project, writes scientific articles about orphan diseases, and searches for clinical cases that illustrate the importance of Genomus

Klim Barkalov
Klim Barkalov

He developed the Genomus website therefore he’s responsible for the technical realization of the IT part of the Genomus project

He is responsible for the wiki page

Daria Silaeva
Daria Silaeva

She analyzes medical literature and writes articles about orphan diseases for our social media accounts. Also she is involved in developing new features of the Genomus

Emma Akopyan
Emma Akopyan

She takes part in discussing the strategy of our team and provides team’s accounts in social media, and translates materials in other languages

Antonina Kuznetsova
Antonina Kuznetsova

Her responsibilities are Genomus database optimization and the DNA bank systematization. She also takes part in translating our team videos in English
