Overview
The best way to pass on some knowledge and concept is through education. Therefore, for a project to be long-lived an well-sustained. The education of the project can never be overemphasized. In view of this, we tried our best to make an influence through education in today's COVID-19 hard times. We developed science communication methods by holding workshops and delivering posters throughout our community in the hope of contributing to science communication and education in synthetic biology.
Public Workshop
Throw Contact Lens Properly,
Marine Life Live More Happily.
It is a pleasure that our team collaborated with NCKU and launched a public education initiative. The reason why we held this event with NCKU is due to the fact that both of our topics are related to contact lenses coincidentally. Not only did we make posters but we also promoted this event on social networks to spread our influence via the internet (the photo on the right is a snapshot of our facebook page event). What we disseminated includes the correct way to recycle contact lenses and the severity of plastic particles pollution in the ocean. In the end of our event, we asked the participants to transform the contact lenses we collected into creative artifacts. One of our work was the iGEM logo, showing that we are taking part in this competition.
Another creation was a high-heeled glass shoe lying under the ocean, implying that plastic contact lenses that we throw away carelessly to sinks or toilets will return the consequences to ourselves eventually, just like the high-heeled glass shoe in the story of Cinderella, knowing that plastic particles we emit to the sea will wreak havoc on public health through ecological circulation. In the end, the third artifact, which is a clock, reminds us to reexamine ourselves and steer human civilization to pave the way for the greater good.

Spreading our influence when social gatherings are prohibited
As we all know, the impact of education can not be emphasized more;therefore, we planned to hold speeches in National Yang Ming University and Wego private senior high school in which many of our team members went to for studies, in order to introduce synthetic biology and also COVID-19, which is highly related to our topic, to more people. However, due to the pandemic, our negotiations with the two educational institutes did not go smoothly on the grounds that they thought it would not be a wise decision to invoke large social gatherings when COVID-19 is still ravaging.
At last, we did not have a chance to give speeches in both schools due to health and safety concerns; instead, we made some posters and posted them in many places of the campus as a substitute, in the hope of influencing those who happen to pass by and spreading our thoughts and concepts for the topic.
