The Center for Synthetic Biology (CSB) is a collaboration between three research groups of the faculty of Bioscience Engineering (Ghent University), joining forces in the diverse field of synthetic biology. The BIOBIX lab of Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics focuses on the analysis of high-throughput “omics” data, particularly generated by second and third generation sequencing or mass spectrometry. They develop innovative data-analytical methodologies to solve complex biological questions as for instance, related to allele-specific expression. Besides that, they also do research in applied (epi)genomics, transcriptomics, translatomics and proteomics research for cancer and aging studies.
