19 Passionate teenagers
This year’s international pandemic has forced most teenagers to stay at home for the summer with little to do. However, teenagers by nature are constantly in motion. To make a contribution to something better, some students formed a group called Worldshaper Nanjing.

They had the lofty goal of making the future brighter by figuring out how to transform useless crops into needed resources.

Shan Dong，PI
PhD in Earth Science and Materials Science from University of Toronto, co-founder and academic director of Worldshaper Academy. Recently, research interests are in biomaterials and synthetic biology, as well as youth STEM education.
Ruyi Shi, Secondary PI
Ph.D. in Bio-system Engineering, Zhejiang University. Academic director in biology of Worldshaper Academy. Her interests are rapid diagnosis of food safety and nanomaterials. She gives valuable suggestion on scientific research methods and the work of dry team.
Xixi Song，Secondary PI
Biological instructor of Worldshaper Academy. She graduated from Chinese Academy of Forestry and good at molecular biology especially in stress resistance functional genomics. Now she is responsible for iGEM project guidance.
Tianqiong Shi
Tianqiong Shi earned his PHD degree from Nanjing Tech University. Dr.Shi’s research focuses on fungi genome editing technology and using synthetic biology to generate high-surplus chemicals from microbe metabolic pathways.
Xiaoman Sun
Dr.Sun’s research focuses on the strain screening, modification, and fermentation regulation of Schizochytrium limanium; and obtaining high-surplus chemicals through metabolic engineering and developing efficient gene operation systems.
Zhengwen Liu
Dr.Liu’s research focuses on the development, preservation, and utilization of biological resources in extreme environments; metabolic modulation of microbe genomes based on synthetic biology,ect.
Chao Ye
Chao Ye earned his PHD degrees in Jiangnan University. Now working at Nanjing Normal University, Food Science and Pharmaceutical Engineering department. Dr.Ye’s research focuses on the construction and application of industrial microbial biological network models.
