HERROU Camille

Hi everyone! I’m a first-year student in a microbiology master who just graduated in cellular biology last year. I love biology for some years now, that’s why, when I heard about the iGEM competition I immediately wanted to participate. So, I’m so proud to say that I participate to this wonderful adventure with the Aix-Marseille iGEM 2020 team. I loved this journey for scientific aspect but also for the human experience and something I didn’t think about at the beginning which was to combine my two passions, biology and art. Indeed, I also love art, especially drawing. And through projects, like logos designing or the art exhibition organised by iGEM Nantes team, I was glad to mix art and biology. In this project I was also implicated in the recruitment of new members, then I was in charge of our facebook page.

PREEL Jeanne

Hi, I am in the 3rd year of my Bachelor of Life Sciences degree in Biochemistry. I embarked on the project following a facebook post! I think it is a very enriching experience, we are setting up a project from A to Z, we take on a lot of responsibilities, what better to evolve? This year has taught me a lot, both in terms of people and knowledge. The covid prevented us from seeing each other and sharing moments together as a team but we helped each other and we became united in the face of this difficulty.

JACQUES-VUARAMBON Lucy

Hello everyone ! I'm 22 and I am currently in my second year of a master’s degree in Biotechnology at Aix-Marseille University. I heard about the iGEM competition when I was a sophomore student, but I never had the chance to participate until this year. This project allowed me to use my theoretical knowledge developed during my studies in a much more concrete and applied context. Moreover, I learned to work with people who were not necessarily of the same level or field as me, which was very enriching!

STURGIS James

Hello! I am a professor of Biochemistry and director of the LISM Laboratory in Marseille. My research centers on using biochemical and biophysical methods to understand membrane proteins structures, functions and interactions. I recently created a synthetic biology course at Aix-Marseille University. Thus it was very keen to help our team turn theory into practice for iGEM. For the seventh time this year, I am managing the Aix-Marseille iGEM team.
T--Aix-Marseille--Team Member 27.png
VIALA Julie

I'm an associate professor at Aix-Marseille University. My time is split between research activity and quite a bit of teaching, in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and synthetic biology. This last discipline is exciting to me as it feels like you might build whatever you want, the only limiting things is ideas! I am therefore happy to support the Aix-Marseille team in this adventure.

HOUOT Laetitia

I’m an associate professor at Aix-Marseille University. I share my time between teaching biochemistry and working at the LISM Laboratory. My research centers on tiny, tiny stuff (bacteria, phages, protein complexes, gene regulations…) and how it all works together as magnificent machines. Synthetic Biology is the perfect field to study and design biological functions! I’m enthusiastic about sharing my benchwork experience with the Aix-Marseille team and to help in this amazing adventure.
