Before starting to work in the lab, we carefully assessed possible risks related to our experiments. This included the use of different protective equipment, handling of GM microorganisms, chemical and biological waste disposal and safe handling of laboratory equipment and machines.
For all experiments we planned to conduct in the lab, an extensive risk declaration was written. It was continuously updated as new experiments were added to the plan and considered specifications for each chemical in regards to what gloves and other protective gear should be used, how the waste should be handled and if there are any hazards related to the chemical. The original version and the additions are found below. Furthermore, a number of risk assessments were read so that the entire group became aware of what hazards were connected to each experiment.
