PROOF OF CONCEPT

Cooperation with governments, research institutes, schools, communities, enterprises can be carried out and we envision how this project might work in the real world as follows:

● Metal ion detection in water and environmental protection

This product will conduct real-time, continuous, stable and reliable testing in developing countries and provide accurate and rapid monitoring data. It can be put into use as automatic water quality monitoring in areas that close to industrial bases, which can detect serious or regional water pollution accidents, so as to solve the disputes of these accidents across administrative regions and test the discharge standards of factories such as mining companies.

● Disease prevention and detection

For cholera, a disease that usually breaks out in developing countries with poor health conditions and requires rapid diagnosis and treatment, this product with short detection time, low cost, convenience and high accuracy has great market prospects and application direction. Point-of-care testing can be an effective supplement to the main laboratory

● Safety tests of drinking water and foods for families

Microorganisms in water and food, for example Salmonella and Norovirus can be tested before serving to reduce the possibility of infection. It can also be used for the detection of pesticide residues, the analysis of food basic components, fermentation industry, biotoxin detection, food freshness detection.

● Aquaculture

Automation IoT (Internet of Things) aquaculture monitoring system, combining biosensors and a variety of probes, can provide real-time monitor to determine if there are toxic heavy metal ions, as well as parameters required such as salinity, temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen. In addition, a fixed underwater camera can be installed in the underwater culturing area to monitor the breeding status, which can make early warning for emergencies in time, effectively reduce labor costs, and realize the full name of aquaculture automation.

● Educational use

Educational biology kit can be designed base on our project. Innovative experiments using freeze-dried cell-free extracts in classrooms and other occasions with poor resource provided can be conducted. It requires no culture of bacteria, no sophisticated laboratory equipment, and involves no health problems. By creating an online database, teachers and students can design experiments together and share their results.
