A SAFE LAB
We have performed all our experiments in Prof. Chris French’s lab, with constant supervision by Dr. Mengxi Li. Each of the lab team members conducted and signed a comprehensive risk assessment upon assessing the planned experimental plan. A lab facility induction was given by Dr. Mengxi Li on the first day of lab work. Appropriate PPE was worn at all times. The face mask was also necessary at these unprecedented times.
The biggest challenge that we faced this year was tied to the COVID-19 outbreak, which severely impacted our ability to conduct laboratory work. Collaboration and group-level tasks became more difficult to coordinate but we did a great job in accommodating this inconveniency: we coordinated everything remotely, took shifts working in the lab, which was quite challenging but equally rewarding when we made progress despite the restrictions.
