My name is Yixin Yang. I come from Hangzhou No.14 High School. I love reading books because I think it’s a good way to motivate us to learn something such as chemistry and biology. I hope I can make a contribution to my team through my huge efforts. There are two reasons to participate in the competition. The first is to learn more about biology and chemistry. The second is to cultivate my teamwork ability. I hope I can help my teammates to achieve their goals.
My name is Ziyuan Yin. I have a lot of hobbies, such as taking photos, making videos, and reading weird books. At the same time, I am also interested in many subjects: mathematics, philosophy, and animation. I have a strong interest in mathematics, And I hope I can gain more knowledge through this contest. Besides, I hope I can meet more people in this competition.
I'm Hao Zheng, a shy boy. Character is not very straightforward, often tactfully accept the request of others, will not refuse others, sometimes when I have a mind will only be a person in the stomach to solve their own. To be honest, I don't like going to school, because the content of the class is more examination-oriented, and I personally prefer some practical experimental courses. Because I am more practical, I prefer engineering subjects that solve practical problems and exercise thinking and creativity. In a large category, in fact, many disciplines interact with each other, I think engineering disciplines are very good. After I want to learn the law, because I have a strong sense of justice and a strong mouth, consider patent law in the future. I'm not very interested in literature, because literary theory is boring to me. Only hands-on practice can make me interested in learning the content of this course. My name is Yiqi Sun. I am passionate about mathematical modeling and responsible for my work. I have a good understanding and interest in mathematics, and I hope to spread knowledge about mathematics to help others. The reason why I join this competence is that I want to practice my mathematical modeling ability. Although I have some shortcomings in chemistry, I still hope to acquire more knowledge of it.
I am Yinuo Shou from Hangzhou No.14 high school ap center. And I am keen on playing sports, like hiking, in order to be exposed to nature. In this way, I can learn about all kinds of animals and plants. Gradually, I developed an interest in biology. This can contribute to one of the reasons that I participate in IGEM. Then I think taking part in the competition can let me obtain more knowledge about biology and chemistry, this is another effective way of learning knowledge besides in classes. Finally, this kind of competition can help me cultivate some skills in managing time efficiently. We have many deadlines which mean we should arrange our time and balance our school work and competition.
Wang Hanqing I’m an environmentalist who used to conduct research on soil contamination caused by organic pollution, such as petroleum carbonate. At that time, my teammate and I cultivated bacteria to ‘eat’ the pollutant and achieved a 16% decrease after three weeks of the experiment. Therefore, I was amazed at the power of biotechnology, and I could not wait to dig deeper into this field. When our PI Tang introduced IGEM to me, I found that it was a dream stage for me since it focused on applying biotechnology to real-world challenges. What’s more, IGEM includes numerous communicational opportunities with other excellent researchers worldwide through Giant Jamboree and co-work between teams. IGEM is more than a competition, but a forum for all engaged people to express and share opinions. Also, it offers many useful tools, such as Benchling and specific webinars, for teams to learn. At the same time, it diversifies the presentation of work. As a team, we divided the creation of videos, posters, animations, and final paper. In this process, I developed a more in-depth understanding of teamwork, learned video editing, and began to think out of the box. Most importantly, I found I was tireless when I participated in the contest, and I will love to major in Bioengineering in college.
I am Ding Jianchen from Hangzhou No. 14 Middle School. From childhood to most of my classmates often say that I am like a boy. Because I like all ball sports and have studied badminton and football professionally, I have joined the junior high school women's football team and won the district's first place for three consecutive years. Since I was a child, I like to sweat on the football field, of course, this is also inseparable from the support of my parents. After entering junior high school, I fell in love with chemistry and biology, and I want to be a doctor like my dad. I usually like to read some detective novels, especially Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". I also like to listen to songs and learn to sing some songs that I think are good. Participating in the IGEM project this time is because IGEM is a big platform, which allows me to make many friends who like biology, and also allows me to learn a lot about genetic engineering. I am Chuanxi Li and I am a student who is studying in the Hangzhou No. 14 high school. The most striking thing about my appearance is that in the crowd, the tallest girl at a glance is likely to be me. No matter in study or in daily life, I am a person who loves thinking. I pay great attention to the cultivation of dialectical thinking, and at the same time, I will also conduct in-depth research on things I am interested in. In addition, I have a wide range of hobbies, especially reading and practice. And as my biology teacher said, biology is the science of understanding human beings and the world itself. Therefore, I choose to participate in IGEM, a global comprehensive biological competition, to carry out further research on science. Based on my habit of focusing on current events and expanding my knowledge through various media, I applied my ability to listen and collecting information, I completed relevant paper writing and information sorting. And I always uphold the spirit of the team so that I assist the team leader's work. In conclusion, a person's power is small, but the progress of society is made up of every step of each individual. I'm Chen Mingyang, from Hangzhou No.14 Middle School in Zhejiang Province，the leader of the team HZNFHS_Hangzhou. In school, my major subjects are chemistry and physics, but I hope to study economics in the future. Usually, at home, I like reading some science fiction, especially Liu Cixin's "three-body" and "wandering the earth". I like the description of the future Earth Society and technology in these two books, as well as the author's apocalyptic color. For sports, I prefer playing football, because since primary school I have played football with my classmates every day. I've been playing basketball since high school, and I'm still practicing. I like to relax by bike after class. Through this IGEM competition, I hope I can improve my leadership and cooperation ability, and gain more knowledge about the use of carbon dioxide.
