Introduction

This year the student members were the ones who initiated the creation of the team. After we saw the adventure the 2019 Nantes team lived we knew we wanted to be a part of the iGEM history. The team was complete by the end of January after every member passed an interview in order to be selected.

We began working at the beginning of February 2020 and we started brainstorming almost right away. We held weekly meetings with all our supervisors and instructors where we would present our ideas and the research the team had done on each idea. Each meeting, we took time to discuss ideas, pointing out their pros and cons and deciding what our next steps were going to be. Unfortunately, France went into lockdown on the 17th of march, so we managed to do only a few meetings in real life.

Even though the sanitary situation slowed things down, no one gave up. We worked night and day, had meetings a few times a week using a video conference app and we eventually came up with our project in April 2020.

The scientific division then started elaborating and planning the design of our plasmids, protocols and reading many scientific articles with the help of our instructors. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we did not yet have access to the lab. Therefore, we still have not started our experiments.

Our institution does not teach an iGEM or synthetic biology course, but we do have a long molecular biology course. The fact that we had advisors from the previous Nantes team made everything a lot easier. Mehdi Kheroufi, Antoine Guyot and Lucie Guillet helped us understand how iGEM works and helped us put everything in order. They taught us how to organize a team and how to be on top of things at any given moment.

The whole team would like to give a huge thanks to our supervisors and instructors: Dr. Laëtitia Rolland-Gautreau, Dr. Paul Déléris, Dr. Emilie Camberlein, Dr. Magali Le Breton, Dr. Thierry Dintinger and Dr. Gregory Montiel for always being there for us, ready to answer any questions we might have had, help us when we had problems and simply being present for us. This would have not been possible without their help.

We would like to note that each and every team member participated in the creation of the wiki. Every team member had to pull all-nighters to finish their part of the wiki - the texts, the photos or the design. It took organization and teamwork but it was all worth it.

Even if they are no longer in the team, for one reason or another, we would like to thank Vanessa and Owein for the time and energy they spent while being a part of the team.
Camille Domenger
Camille is a member of the scientific group and she worked on the chemistry part of the scientific project. Transforming hydrogen sulfide into sulfuric acid needs an experienced chemist which Camille is. She also participated in an interview with Genialg. Camille helped the team by participating in the “Fête de la Science” in our city where she explained our project to the general public and kids. She also explained what exactly synthetic biology and iGEM is.
Camille is always extremely joyful and ready to help her teammates.
Tiphaine Chapeau
Tiphaine is a member of the scientific group. She participated in completing the safety form, a few protocols and designed several versions of the plasmids that will be used to produce our 7 enzymes.
She also participated in the development of the article of our team during the MSP collaboration. She helped the Entrepreneurship and Finance group contributing to the creation of a few funding applications such as CLAP and FSDIE. She was at the origin of the creation of the flyer of the team which has been used to contact the different companies in order to raise fundings. With the association of her soul-teammate Thomas, they worked in symbiosis to develop the poster of the team’s project and are now working on a secret project: an Escape Game that might see the light in the future.
Also something you should know about Tiphaine: she is such a kind person and she puts so much effort into everything she does, which always ends up being a-ma-zing.
Antoine Bochet
Antoine is a member of the scientific division. He worked alongside the group and developed the bioreactor part of our project, and he is also working on the modelization. He joined his colleagues at the "Fête de la science" in Nantes and was really excited to explain what exactly synthetic biology is. It was fun to see him explain something this complicated to kids. He participated in the making of the promotional video.
If you are wondering how we found the perfect name for our project, it is thanks to Antoine B., Axel and Antoine G. - A3 as he participated in the elaboration of the A3 project. Antoine is the funny guy of the team, he’s always there to crack a joke and make you laugh.
Mylène Sorin
Mylène is the captain of the scientific group and she had to organize meetings and tasks for everyone in her group. She designed and ordered the plasmids we are going to use when we will start our lab work. She was an active member of the team who made sure everyone was up to date with any changes to the project, the experimental techniques or the protocols. She was always available when there was a video conference organized with our instructors, and also ready to answer their questions.
She made sure the team moved forward, she worked on the Safety Form and the Check-In. If you look closely, you will see her in the Promotional video and you will soon see her in the 20 min video.
She also worked on a few collaborations like the MSP Proceeding Journal collaboration and the Aachen collaboration.
Mylène is such an organized member (the most organized maybe) and she is always on top of everything.
Sahra Karzazi
Sahra is the Chief leader, also is seen as the Big Brother of the team. She has an eye on everything and is implicated in a lot of projects. She participated in several financing commissions, sometimes alone in front of a whole committee. She contributed to the construction of the bibliography that enriched the knowledge on our project, but she also contributed to the production of several protocols that will be very useful for the future of our project. She helped the HP group participate in the "Fête de la science".
In addition to the work within the different poles, she constantly thinks about the good organization and cohesion of the team: how to distribute the different missions between the poles, planning of meetings, etc.
Sahra never stops looking at the iGEM website and she always keeps the team informed.
Thomas Morand
Thomas is the deputy team leader of the Team. He is one of the most implicated members of our project and is a true hard-worker. He was very polyvalent and participated in the progress of the 3 groups. Therefore, he participated in designing plasmids, the creation of the safety form, and the production of several protocols. He has a true designer talent and enjoyed creating marvelous designs for the production of the flyer, poster, business cards, graphic charts, and recap diagrams.
He also participated in the collaboration of the MSP Journal. Furthermore, he contributed to the creation of several funding applications such as CLAP and FSDIE. Finally, with his favorite partner in crime (Tiphaine) they are creating a little secret project of a digital escape game that might soon become a reality.
Thomas is such a positive person, he is always ready to cheer up the team when there are problems.
Axel Codault
Axel is a proud member of the scientific group. Alongside Camille, he helped develop the chemistry part of the project. Like we said, a project this sophisticated needs a good chemist and in our team, we have the perfect combination.
He contributed to the creation of the poster with the whole scientific group. He also helped Thomas create the business cards and he participated in the creation of the 20-minute video.
If you are wondering how we found the perfect name of our project, it is thanks to Axel, Antoine B. and Antoine G. - A3
Axel was one of the discrete members but was always present when we had questions.
Caroline Le Gal
Caroline is the captain of the HP pole, she participated in the organization of various projects and events such as the "Fête de la science", pre-school days, collaboration of the team in an educational project in a high school, art exhibitions in our city, ... (and many more to come). She sent a lot of emails, contacting professionals and interviewing them. She played a role in several collaborations with other iGEM teams: Covid-19 video impact with MSP, iJET video with Aachen, postcards with 49 other teams, Virtual art exhibition with Athens, creation of a poster for the Team spirit session at the Giant Jamboree and she created content for our social network accounts.
Caroline also presented the project to the university staff and she participated in the Molecular Cloud campaign for our team and wrote a part of the script for the promotional video.
Finally, she came up with the idea for the theme of our project: green algae.
Caroline is so used to writing emails that she is now able to write emails as fast as she blinks. She is also one of the kindest captains.
Christelle Ravonjiarivelo
Christelle is a member of the HP group and she was one of the main actors allowing the collaboration of our team with other iGEM teams happen. She participated in the video project with MSP, the FR iGEM video with the francophone teams, translation of the Athens flyer, the iJET Aachen video, etc. She also created numerous content on social networks and various communication supports. She created various animations at the "Fête de la science" stand. She was in charge of the exchanges with other iGEM teams when it came to preparing the art exhibition (exchanges with the teams).
If you ever sent us a message on Instagram, chances are you talked with Christelle. She was on top of things when it came to social media managing. Her creativeness comes in handy because she is also working on a board game about synthetic biology.
Christelle was one of the most polyvalent team members, she managed to do so much that you wouldn’t believe it.
Arthur Charrier
Arthur is a member of the HP group and he has his own YouTube channel as well. He has the experience we needed for creating the promotional video and the 20-minute video. He also participated in the "Fête de la science" in our city where he explained our project, iGEM and synthetic biology to the general public and to kids. Arthur is full of ideas and is always ready to share them with us.
Valériane Thobie
Valériane is a member of the HP group and she was mainly working on organizing and taking care of the art expositions the team organized. She was the one who was contacting all of the artists that we were interested in.
She participated in the creation of the promotional video and the 20-minute video. She presented iGEM, synthetic biology and our project during the inset day at the University of Nantes in front of students that were just starting their bachelor’s degree in Science.
She participated in the "Fête de la science" that took place in our city. She told everyone about our project, about iGEM and of course synthetic biology.
Valériane created content for social media, participated in the interview with Genialg and also contacted municipalities for our integrated Human Practices.
What you have to know about Valériane is that she is always happy and always smiling.
Jonathan Dheilly
Jonathan is a member of the HP group. He is responsible for the project’s logo and he made an amazing artwork for our art exhibition. He is very artistic and he was the one who created a scientific comic book for a competition at our university.
Last but not least he is the one responsible for the drawings of each team member that you can find on our Instagram page.
Jonathan is the most happy person on the earth, always smiling and always laughing.
Anthonio Randrianarison
Anthonio is a member of the HP group. Thanks to him, the vision we had for the wiki became a reality, as he is the main coder of the team.
You get it - Anthonio is the one who saved our team by creating our wiki.
Marie Esnard
Marie is the leader of the Entrepreneurship and Finance group. She participated in the search for fundings, the search for sponsors, the elaboration of the business plan and the organization and she also finished our total budget.
Marie’s passion for Marine Biology also explains her interest in our project.
Sacha Guillet
Sacha is a member of the Entrepreneurship and Finance group she participated in the search of fundings, search of sponsors and the elaboration of presentations. She contributed to the creation of funding applications such as CLAP, FSDIE and Crous.
Sacha is the fun girl of the team, Antoine B’s partner in crime - always there to cheer you up.
Antoine Guyot
Antoine helped with the design of the project. He knows his way around science. During the brainstorming phase, Antoine built the first project from the theme picked by the team. He did genetic designs but also gave a lot of advice for the scientific part of the project. As a team leader of the 2019 team, he had great advice for us when it came to teamwork and organization.
If you are wondering how we found the perfect name for our final project it is thanks to Antoine G, Axel and Antoine B. - A3
Even if Antoine was busy with his many internships he was always there when we needed him and he is what we call a true team member.
Natali Gospodinova
Natali is a cheerful advisor of the HP group. She was very involved in the communication between our team and the rest of the world by creating content for social media. She put her heart and her soul when it came to collaborations with a lot of iGEM teams, such as the MSP COVID-19 Video, the MSP Scientific Journal, Athens’ Flyer Translation and Athens’ Virtual Museum. She also participated in the "Fête de la science". Therefore she often looks for financial aid for the project. She also took part in the inset day at the University of Nantes.
She is so implicated in our iGEM adventure that she’s always available to recruit the latest members of our iGEM family (she is a real headhunter!). Whenever she finds the time, she runs towards her teammates in need.
As she loves creating, she designed a poster for the Team Spirit Session at the Giant Jamboree and also actually presented the poster in front of the other teams (virtually).
Moreover, she is taking some of the rest of her free time to create a board game about synthetic biology.
Mehdi Kheroufi
Mehdi is an advisor mainly for the Entrepreneurship and Finance group. With his experience from iGEM 2019 he helped the team find financial aid that helped us achieve our goals. Mehdi is a kind teammate and is always ready to guide you.
Damien Marquis
Damien is an advisor that came to us to help us with the educational board game. He has already created several board games, some with educational purposes, and his experience is helping us out a lot. He is always ready to answer any questions we have.
Lucie Guillet
Lucie is an advisor mainly for the Scientific group. With her experience from the 2019 iGEM Competition, she helped us develop a team spirit between members.
