Engineering Success

We have achieved engineering success by making an effort to follow the engineering design cycle this year. Moreover, we have planned further steps of experiments design and the solution of dealing with unexpected results. Please see the Engineering page for more information. Human Practices

We sent an email to the Kohei Oda team who discovered PETase. He highly appreciated our project for its great significance of protecting environment to our mother earth and sent latest developments related to our research. And then we have reached out the general public by posting questionnaires on the Internet to understand their opinions and tailor our project to meet their expectation. We also interviewed PET retrieve companies. To our surprise, they showed great interest in our improved enzyme and its industrial applications. In particular, Incom Recycle hopes to cooperate with us in further study. To see more, please go to Human_Practices Page.

Integrated Human Practices

Our Integrated Human Practices is focused on closing the loop on the use of PET. Beyond the criteria of the silver, we further visited a number of enterprises related to the use and production of PET, including the famous COFCO Coca-Cola Beverages. What’s more, advice from foreign professors proficient in protein engineering really helps us to design the more suitable enzyme for industrial. We also visited the local government and discussed the situation and solutions of plastic pollution which helped us further develop our plans and make our products closer to reality. Project modeling

We developed two models to predict the thermostability of a target protein. Our mathematical model of ΔΔG and Tm value is a bridge built between simulations and experimental results and our molecular dynamics simulation achieves high prediction of changes of dynamic stability of proteins at a certain high temperature. Science Communication

Participating in iGEM allows us to learn more about synthetic biology. As iGEMers, we have the responsibility to let more people know the science behind synthetic biology. This year we decided to take a simplest, direct and effective way to spread the knowledge of synthetic biology. The marital we used is Live Online Courses.
