Deliverables

Deliverables As part of our deliverables this year, we created our Wiki page, which you are currently browsing. We were also asked to create a Promotion video to simply introduce our project, and we created it in three languages: English, Hebrew and Chinese. This year both the Poster and the Presentation were done a bit differently since the Jamboree is Virtual due to the global Pandemic. You can see our Presentation video in English (with subtitles in 5 different languages) and look at our Virtual Poster.

Attribution

We created a wiki page to clearly reflect the work done by our team members, and the contribution of the kind people and companies who helped us along the way to make the idea a reality.

Project Description

The basis of our project is explained in the Description page, and more details about the design process and engineering are given in the Design page.

Contribution

We chose to focus on a cloning method that is new for iGEM. We constructed a manual about the Any Gene Any Plasmid (AGAP) cloning method in yeast. It is available in the contribution page.

Engineering Success

To exhibit true engineering cycle, containing research, vision, design, building, testing, and learning, we chose two sides from our project. You can read about them in the Engineering page, where we showed demonstrated the circular process of the "Bacillus" sub-group, and the design process of the successful part created by the "Sybodies" sub-group.

Collaboration

This year we virtually hosted the "Eastern Mediterranean Meetup". For further reading, see our Collaboration page. We also took part in "The Israeli Academic Inclusivity Video Project Collaboration" with the other iGEM groups from Israel, as part of our participation in the Inclusion award. More details can be found in the Inclusion page.

Human Practices

We were busy with the Human Practices side of "ACT." this year. It was extremely important for us to help people, adults, and children alike, to understand how big the pandemic issue is, affecting all the world in an extraordinary way. The global magnitude of the pandemic might be trivial now, but it wasn’t when we began our journey. We visited Schools and kept publishing information and suggestions in social media on appropriate personal conduct. Our activities are described in more details on the Human Practices page and you are more than welcome to read and spread the word (but not the virus).

Proposed Implementation

We developed a self-care product to lower the infectivity of COVID-19 and help flatten the infection curve. You can read all about our design for ACT. In the Implementation page.

Integrated Human Practices

You can visit our Integrated HP section in the Human Practices page, and read about the surveys we preformed and how they affected the product's design. More information that can be found on this page, contains the consultations we had with over 9 experts from various fields and with “Dr. Fischer” company, including the main conclusions from each consultation.

Project Modelling

We modelled three aspects during our work and they are all explained in details on the Model page. They were done by using PyRosetta and MATLAB, engaging ACT.’s effectivity and protein variants affinity.

iGEM Special Prizes

Inclusion

This year, together with all the other Israeli groups participating in iGEM – sTAUbitily (TAU) and Wipeout (BGU), we have decided to join the iGEM foundation in the work against systemic racism in STEM and academia, by setting up a video project collaboration named "The Israeli Academic Inclusivity Video Project Collaboration". More details about this collaboration can be found in the Inclusion page.

Integrated Human Practices

It was extremely important for us to create a well-designed product that will be safe to use and accepted by society. Therefore, we contacted the cosmetics pharmaceutical company – Dr. Fischer, consulted with more than 9 professionals and published two surveys along the way. We came full circle and re-designed our project accordingly, as described at the Human Practices page, at the Integrated area.

Model

We used three models to make our product as ideal and reliable as possible. All the three came from different worlds – mathematical, Engineering and biochemical, and are detailed in the Model page.
