Parts

We are very pleased to present the further developed Kaiser Collection. While we added just a few basic parts, they offer an even wider spectrum of possible applications.

Collection
As the successors of the TUK iGEM team 2019, we built upon their Kaiser collection and are able to add three coding sequences for two laccases and a new tag, that combines the HA-tag and 8His-tag. They are compatible with Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The green algae was chosen as a chassis because as an eukaryotic organism it is able to modify protein post translational. Furthermore, C. reinhardtii has a short doubling time and as a photoautotrophic organism it offers continuous production of protein.

By making the coding sequences for the laccases marLac and BaLac available to the iGEM community, these enzymes can now be easily used in the MoClo system. Additionally, we not only established the laccases marLac and BaLac for the chassis Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, but also for Escherichia coli. Laccases are also incredibly diverse in their area of application, allowing them to be used in different fields of research.

Through adding our parts to the Kaiser Collection we want to further the field of applications for C. reinhardtii as a chassis.
