Sarah Abdul-Mawla
Age: 24

Fun Facts: Needs a helping hand when it comes to getting things off the top shelf.
Is so quiet she could get away with murder and no one would ever know
Motivation for iGEM: “I wanted to get more practical experience outside the usual uni-stuff and having a choice in the project we create is also great.”
Richelle Avers
Age: 23
Degree Program: Masters in Molecular Cell Biology
Favorite Laboratory Equipment: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Fun Facts: The only sentence she knows in German is "are you married?"
Was surprised to learn Germany has democracy.
Motivation for iGEM: “I wanted the opportunity to expand my laboratory experience while working with the team.”
Emily Becker
Age: 23
Degree Program: Bachelor in Biology
Favorite Laboratory Equipment: Centrifuge
Fun Facts: If she´s in the lab for more than 8 hours, her sanity slowly slips away.
Has to open the button on her pants to eat Mensa food (and occasionally forgets to close it again).
Motivation for iGEM: “iGEM is a great opportunity to learn to work independently in the laboratory.”
Daniel Brady
Age: 24
Degree Program: Masters in Physics with a focus on theoretical physics
Favorite Laboratory Equipment: Exit
Fun Facts: The elusive yeti of the group, we know he does great things through legends but is rarely seen.
Can unhinge his jaw to eat 5 pounds of guacamole in one sitting.
Motivation for iGEM: “It offers a great opportunity to learn about webdesign, modeling, and gathering team-work experiences.”
Nicolas Freche
Age: 21

Fun Facts: Can fake an entire conversation only using HIMYM quotes.
Part tree: supportive root system for the team's stability and helpful in reaching tall things.
Motivation for iGEM: “The urge to research and know everything.”
Stefanie Heinrich
Age: 23
Degree Program: Bachelor in Life Sciences

Fun Facts: Small, but harnesses the power of 1000 exploding suns.
No matter how stressful the day was, her hair bow still fits.
Motivation for iGEM: “I hope to gain a lot of experiences in the laboratory and to be able to contribute something to this exciting project.”
Allyssa Hinkle
Age: 28
Degree Program: Master in Biology with a focus in Ecology

Fun Facts: Will surprise everyone with “beautiful” ants she found on her way to lab.
Always has positive word for you even when you do everything wrong.
Motivation for iGEM: “To learn new techniques in the laboratory and grow my fundamental skills as a scientist.”
Linda Müller
Age: 24
Degree Program: Diploma in Biophysics
Favorite Laboratory Equipment: Photometer
Fun Facts: She is cursed with things that slip out of her hands in lab and mysteriously break.
Can juggle iGEM craziness as well as an octopus (she hasn't shown us her other 6 hands yet though!)
Motivation for iGEM: “I am looking forward to working on a project from its conception to its implementation with a nice team and having the opportunity to utilize all the knowledge earned in my studies.”
Helena Schäfer
Age: 22
Degree Program: Bachelor in Biology

Fun Facts: Wills the proteins into activity through the power of her dance moves.
Always hungry at 9:30AM regardless if she had breakfast or not.
Motivation for iGEM: “Through iGEM I hope to learn how to plan, evaluate and interpret a complete project, soft skills and the organization and implementation of a possible project.”
Yannik Schermer
Age: 23
Degree Program: Bachelor in Food Chemistry/ Master in Toxicology
Favorite Laboratory Equipment: Soxhlet extractor
Fun Facts: Can always make a conversation about chemistry, no matter the starting topic.
Is in search of a toxic mushroom guide (should we warn his girlfriend?)
Motivation for iGEM: “I like the idea of being able to do research with potential real-world application before finishing university.”
