We designed a series of lectures and activities for high school and primary school students.
1.High shcool
For high school students, considering their limited time and excessive pressure from daily studying, we mainly teach them, in addition to lectures, synthetic Biology in a relaxing way, such as prize-giving quiz.
We have already held an activity of this kind in middle school campus. We designed the quiz related to the term in molecular biology, including process of translation and transcription, famous projects in the area of synthetic biology, and protocols in gene engineering experiment.
Lots of students came to participate in the quiz. Though we designed the quiz to be quite easy, many of them still didn’t know the correct answers. Many students showed interest in gene engineering after doing the quiz, some even took notes in order to remember these knowledge. This shows the educational value of our activities, therefore we’re planning to design more quizzes in the future.

2.Primary school
For primary school students, we remembered ourselves feeling bored when listening to lectures that were monotonous and dull, in order to avoid this, we made comics, fun videos, and described the knowledge in an easy, fun and attractive way.
Our lectures covered concepts and terms related to synthetic biology, what changes synthetic biology has brought and will further bring to the world and how. We also introduced our project to show the application of synthetic biology in daily life, and gene engineering and operation in experiments related to synthetic biology.
Due to the pandemic, we only gave online lectures to primary school students. We have so far introduced some of the contents to them, such as what is gene, some famous gene engineering projects, and our project.
The primary school students were so interested in our lectures that they asked for our WeChat accounts through their teachers, and asked us various questions related to genes and the projects we introduced, and the projects we introduced, they also told us that they learned lots of new things from the lectures, and looked forward to the following lectures.
All these activities arose the interest in Biology of the participants, and were of complete success.
We recorded the lectures we made and posted them on WeChat channels, YouTube, Bilibili, WeChat official accounts, Tencent video for people to watch(Links will be put bellow). We are planning to upload the studying materials we organized onto the web in the future, and still looking for a suitable website at present.
