- Miguel González-Valdés Tejero - Modelling and Outreach Lead, Wiki Study Co-lead. Led Pathway Design and Flux Balance Analysis, assisted with human practices, graphic design, safety and experimental design.
- William Smith - Graphic Design and Video Lead. Assisted with YouTube Analysis.
- Madeleine Webster-Harris - Human Practices Lead. Led Surveys, YouTube Analysis, Reflection, and Interviews, assisted with entrepreneurship, experimental design and chemical analysis.
- Maria Kesic - Social Media Lead. Assisted with chemical analysis and entrepreneurship.
- Jana Hidalgo Hopson - Wet lab and Wiki Study Lead. Designed our logo and was the primary contributor of the wiki study, assisted with wiki development.

Project advisors
- Professor Eriko Takano - Professor of Synthetic Biology, Director of SynBioChem. Prof Takano guided us throughout the project and provided her invaluable expertise.
- Professor Rainer Breitling - Professor of Systems Biology. Guided the team greatly to help us achieve our goals. Prof Breitling was our first point of contact to discuss our approach to the project, he was there to guide us and help us in every brainstorming session.
Project supervisors
- Dr Daniel Schindler - Group Leader in the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology. Worked with us closely throughout the duration of the project, and helped us with almost every area of it . Advice on experimental design, troubleshooting, part assembly and characterisation, orders and deliveries, experimental design and outreach.
Laboratory
- Dr Mark Dunstan - Senior Experimental Officer. Advised us on experimental design and helped us develop our overall approach to our project.
- Dr Andrew Currin - Postdoctoral Research Associate. Assisted greatly with our project design.
- Dr Kris Nino Valdehuesa - Research Associate. Advised us on our primer design and plasmid construction. Also provided guidance on the chemistry aspect of pathway design.
- Jakub Chromy MSc - Research Assistant. Advised us on plasmid design.
- Dr Sebastian Hennige - Coral Researcher, Senior Lecturer in the University of Edinburgh. Gave us insight on the science behind coral bleaching and the effect of UV filters on said bleaching.
Modelling
- Dr Ruth Stoney - Postdoctoral Research Associate. Offered a great deal of guidance with pathway design, and helped us greatly with troubleshooting all the bioinformatic tools used.
- Dr Hong Zeng - Research Associate. Offered a great deal of help with FBA and introduced us to matlab rules.
Human practices
- Prof Philip Shapira - Professor of Innovation Management. Offered guidance and gave us pointers for our project, in every area of Human Practices.
- Dr Andy Balmer - Senior Lecturer in Sociology. Suggested and gave guidance on the Social Media study.
- Dr Andrew Watkins - Research Associate in Responsible Research and Innovation in Synthetic Biology. Provided criticism and constructive feedback on our project from the different publics’ points of view.
- Nick Matthews - PhD researcher in Prof Shapira’s Team. Provided guidance on our view of Human Practices, and helped with survey design and analysis.

- Louise Laing MSc - Reef Restoration Consultant and Co-Founder and Sustainability Director of People4Ocean. Provided an insight into the sustainable sunscreen market.
- Dr Paul Misselbrook - Patent Attorney, Trade Mark Attorney and IP Litigator at Mewburn Ellis. Gave us a better understanding of patents and provided intellectual property advice.
- Dermatology expert - Gave us insight into the Photobiology involved in photodamage, and the role of sunscreen. Expert chose to remain anonymous.
- Dr Fran Salisbury - Patent Attorney at Mewburn Ellis, she provided specific training on Biological and Biotechnological Intellectual Property rights.
