Implementation

This year, we constructed a capsule robot which can intelligently sample from the lesion to achieve precise drug delivery. As this method is very accurate and effective, we also hope it can be applied to the market. We want to see if our sampling method can be widely used and benefit people. By completing this plan of entrepreneur, we can also see our hardware in a new light.

We will continue to working on improving the accuracy of the suspension control system, we are also planning on adding a real-time monitoring module to the capsule.

Background & Business Mode

Physical examination items in China do not include stomach examination. Professor Hou Xiaohua from Beijing Union hospital pointed out that 70% of cancer patients are in the middle-late stage when diagnosed. By cooperating with physical examination institution, our machine capsule can help solve this problem. With the help of endoscopic camera and suspension control system, it is easy to know if there is erosion or ulcer on clients’ gastric wall and sample from the lesion directly. It will be convenient and painless for a client to guarantee the health of his/her stomach.

The robot capsule is also a good partner to clinical treatments requiring precise drug delivery in stomach. Maintaining microenvironmental balance is essential in treating stomach diseases. Our hardware can be applied to gastrointestinal flora detecting. The capsule can directly sample from the lesion, helping doctors measure the composition of sample liquids quantitively. Accordingly, doctors can determine the treating method and drug dosage precisely.

1.   The doctors

Our ultimate goal is to apply our robot capsule to clinical therapies, thus we interviewed the doctors to learn whether devices of this kind is practical and valuable, especially in treatments against H.pylori. Huang Qin, Calgary, gave us some inspiration.

  • Promoting a healthy and hygienic eating habit is more essential

2.   The company

From biopharmaceutical company and medical device company, we learned which part of our capsule is practical and valuable, witch part needs to be improved. We also had a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship. This year, Treatgut, located in Guangzhou, China, is a national high-tech enterprise commited to develop a complete procedure of better FMT. We initiated a online conversation with Treatgut on 27th, Sept, 2020, and had a talk with their techniques and managers.

  • Promoting the hardware to diagnose and sample of other gastrointestinal flora will make the product more valuable

3.   The bio-medicine industry park

This year, we cooperated with WHU and Tongji to learn about the current situation of China’s bio-medicine industry. Separately, we visited ZhongguanCun DaXing Bio-Medicine Industry Park, Zhangjiang Medicine Valley, Wuhan Biolake and shared the information.

With strong support of national policies, bio-industry bases have been successively established in the past two decades in major cities in China. Enjoying national preferential policies, these bioparks gathered research institutes, enterprises and authoritative institutions and cooperated with hospitals and universities. With mature incubator companies, the whole process from laboratory to production can be realized inside the park. Relying on the location advantages and policy support of their respective cities, the three parks have a good momentum of development.

Bio-industry is an important part in China’s development and it is becoming integrated. There will be more resources and opportunities in the bioparks and it is beneficial to the development and commercialization of new products.

Method of implementation

☀    Accumulating suggestions and experience by attending Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conferences

A successful hardware needs to be tested by the society. By attending these kinds of conferences, we can obtain opinions from experts, companies and investigators. In this way, we can continuously perfect our business plan base on reality, avoid working in the ivory tower.

☀    Continuously communicate with physical examination institutions and hospitals

Since our goal is to make the robot capsule a useful tool in physical examination and clinical treatment, it is crucial to meet institutions’ and hospitals’ need. In our later work, we will keep communicating with institutions and hospitals to make our hardware a suitable and advantageous equipment.

☀    Properly using the source of bioparks in major cities

After researching bioparks in Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan, we became aware of the rich sources and convenience of industry parks. Properly taking advantages of bioparks in Beijing, we will carry out our latter experiments and tests more conveniently. We will also try to approach medical equipment companies in the park, learn how a company work and what the market is doing with our own eyes.
