Plant immunity based biosensing

We believe our project is eligible for the best plant project as we have explored a truly novel and important application of a plant based system: plant pattern recognition receptor (PRR) based biosensing. We have laid the groundwork for future work on such projects, by designing an extensive collection of basic and composite parts.

Expressing plant PRRs in Saccharomyces cerevisiae has never been achieved before. We were able to prove their expression and membrane localization in S. cerevisiae, functionally repurposing the immune components of plants.

Further, we created an in-depth guide on plant PRRs that consolidates the most important information about them to assist future teams in initializing their project.
