A small setback

To verify each other’s experiment, we examined the toxin levels before and after sophorolipid lysis of
cyanobacteria and treated the samples with our mlrA enzyme. The results showed that MC-LR levels increased
significantly after cyanobacterial rupture and decreased after enzymatic treatment.
However, due to the detection method, other types of cyanotoxins were also detected in the samples, but MlrA
did not have a good degradation effect on other types of cyanotoxins except MCs.

For the following years after iGEM, we are willing to get further cooperation with Jiangnan_China. They are going to exchange their experience and methods of managing cyanobacteria. At the same time, we will continue our research on algal toxins, which may help them to solve the problem during the experiments that the algal toxins cannot be degraded.
