Description

Our team wrote two pages (Description, Quantum Dots) about how and why we chose iGEM project and explain it. In pages, we talk about background, experiment, problem we notice and the goals we want to achieve.

Design

Design is the first step in the design-build-test cycle in engineering and synthetic biology. We use this page to describe the process and clearly explain the engineering principles used to design our project.

Contribution

We are successful to check the QDs in solution by easy method and improve the Cadmium ion tolerance ability and QDs synthesis efficiency by synthetic biology way. We also build a model to explain the detail of QD biosynthesis.

The current approaches to synthesizing quantum dot is mostly using chemical reaction. It will produce lots of drain water during the process as well as using large amount of organic solution. We hope to reuse the cadmium ions contained in sewage and transform them into highly profitable nanomaterial.

Description

Design

How we edit the gene of E. coli JM109 with four main target gene, making it more porwerful of QD synthesis.

Contribution

We achieve the methods of QD detect and improve E. coli survivability.

Engineering Success

We transform our target gene and successfully and verify its expression and fuction by experiments.

Proposed Implementation

We make a plan with three stages. Also we aim to sell our product to companies and wastewater treatment factories.
